Ottawa Rockers Iconoclast return to LIVE! on Elgin with special guests The Alibi and Arms of the girl.
Iconoclast: Not a band to be written about, but a band to see live. Rock and roll isn't a medium made for print. It's a medium made for live enjoyment.
From the stage of Ottawa’s world renowned Bluesfest, to opening for bands such as Theory of a Deadman, Finger Eleven, Rival Sons, or Danko Jones, Iconoclast never fails to deliver hard hitting, high energy entertainment. If you're still reading, and not listening to their latest release “They Were Right About Us” in the background, you're doing it wrong.
Even though The Alibi is quite recent, their musical journey actually begun in the summer of 2011 when Liam and Johanie started recording homemade demos. In order to play their original songs in at live shows, they looked for other musicians and met Hyrum, who became the permanent guitarist of the band. With some shuffling of members the band didnt solidify with its current members till the summer 2014 when the band met Nicole, who became the voice of the project.
Feeling like it was finally the right time to hit the studio, they recorded their first 5-track EP, ‘’Break the Distance’’, at Silver Wings Studios. Since then the band has played a handful of shows including opening for European band Delain on their world tour at Foufounes Electriques and also opening for the up and coming band Slaves at Cabaret Underworld. Now The Alibi continues to move forward with their musical endeavors booking live shows and creating new material to bring to their audiences.
Arms of the Girl: is a female-fronted Ottawa band that plays bluesy-twangy rock. Known for their high-energy live show, Arms has been compared to Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, and Serena Ryder.
With introspective, playful lyrics, powerful guitar riffs and solos, and a fun, engaging band chemistry, Arms delivers solid, memorable performances. Notable shows include Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest and opening for Roadrunner Records’ Bleeker Ridge.
