Showcase #13 is HERE! This month, we're going international! Boston's When Particles Collide bring their "Unstoppable Rock Tour" to Ottawa, along with local favorites Lost Acres and Rory Taillon!
Long ago -- on a dark and stormy night in a local grocery store’s produce department, Mike revealed his fancy for poetry, lyrics, and music. Little did he know, one Dawson Doyle lurked behind the melons, listening to the words Mike spewing from Mike’s mouth hole.
Soon enough, Mike uncovered Dawson’s magicianship avec a guitar. Upon this discovery the two met in the dwellings of Mike’s parent's house, and without speaking a word to each other began to write songs.
After some recruitment, a couple of line-up changes, and horse feathers - Lost Acres appeared from the foggy horizons on a suicide mission to save rock and roll from the murky swamps while adding a jang to the music.
When Particles Collide:
Rock ‘n Roll is about singing and playing the truth so that we can all be a little more human, so that we can better understand ourselves through the power of rhythm, melody and verse. WPC believes this art form makes us all feel empowered, inspired, connected and unstoppable.
In March of 2010 Sasha and Chris met when they were both cast in a Bangor Maine production of Hedwig and The Angry Inch. Sasha played guitar and Chris played drums. They fell in love with playing together and later just plain old fell in love.
In January of 2011 They played their first official show as When Particles Collide and since then have been on a non-stop rock ‘n roll adventure.
Since the summer of 2012 When Particles Collide has been touring the country for 9-14 weeks per year and playing consistently across New England the other 43-38 weeks. All told the duo racks up between 70-100 shows per year resulting in one of the most dynamic, engaging and professional live shows you can see at a mid sized venue.
They have released seven sets of recordings, pressed two full length vinyl records and made friends and fans all across the country.
They are unstoppable, and also, hard to pigeonhole.
Ottawa-based singer/songwriter Rory Taillon is a road warrior, touring across the country and back again. He has the soul of the East coast but the sound of the West in his songs. His latest album, ‘Only Whispers’ is the work of a one man Wintersleep, a one man Tea Party, a one man Blackie & the Rodeo Kings, with a voice to match the majesty of the Rockies.
Tree Museum is an indie rock band based out of Toronto, Canada.
Formed in the latter half of 2014, the group features veterans of the small, but vibrant Thunder Bay music scene. Regulars at several Toronto indie hotspots (The Horseshoe Tavern, Junction City Music Hall, The Piston etc) Tree Museum has been busy pouring their newly refined style into a set of new singles (late 2018).
