Mark J. Nyvlt Band with special guest Jon Van Wingerden.
Mark J. Nyvlt:
Mark J Nyvlt is an Ottawa singer-songwriter, who plays regularly in the Ottawa area solo and also with his band. Schooled at Canterbury High School in Classical guitar, Mark eventually learned to play steel-string guitar, and is now working on his 4th album. Having travelled the world extensively, Mark was exposed to many experiences that he has recorded in song, enabling his music to progress over the years. His songs reflect the dynamic, multi-dimension of humanity, the good and the bad. His music has progressed from straight folk to layers of musical and rhythmical variations in the sounds of acoustic, smooth jazz. Mark’s style is clearly roots-Canadiana. He performs regularly in the Ottawa area: Black Sheep Inn, Aylmer Guitar Festival, Atomic Rooster, Pressed, Bar Robo, Live on Elgin, and The Rainbow. He also performs as a volunteer regularly at various venues: The Trend Arlington Community Centre during community gatherings, raising funds for Syrian Refugees, Christmas event at The Good Companions Seniors’ Centre, and many more occasions to encourage young people to pursue music as a lifestyle. His bandmates are highly accomplished musicians: Zeek Gross (saxophone), Alvaro De Minaya (percussion), Ken Kanwisher (bass, accordion, cello), Rod Fotheringham (keyboard), Andrew Mah (classical guitar), and Lucille Bazinet (backup vocals).
