Unplugged In Ottawa: Gabriel Comba, The Desert Island Big Band, Leeny & Maude
at LIVE! on Elgin
Gabriel Comba:
Gabriel Comba is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist hailing from Ottawa, Canada. He creates heartfelt music and art, blending emotion and imagination drawn from the worlds within his mind. His songwriting consistently explores underlying themes of love and fear.
DIBB:
The Desert Island Big Band is the pseudonym of Stefan Jurewicz—musician, producer (Kick Me Records), and author (Lemon, Milk Crate Shorts) from Ottawa, Canada. Known for a live show featuring a six-piece band, puppets, a giant plaster mask, costumes, choreography, and set design, DIBB will be performing an uncharacteristically stripped down acoustic set for this event, with accompaniment from Asher Darling on piano.
Leeny & Maude:
A generous helping of 90s indie rock; a sprinkling of country-western flair; a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek wit; and an authenticity that cannot be bought — this is the cliffs notes version of Leeny Jones. Like many artists, Jones uses music as an emotional and creative outlet, to move through life’s challenges and heartbreaks, as well as its beauty. Whether she is singing about her everyday musings of life in Gatineau, grief and loss, or the frustration of not being able to get your bike repaired in a timely fashion, she always ties it together with that — literal and figurative — twinkle in her eye. She will be accompanied live by Modevile.
